  • A good adult fantasy book

    While the later books in the series become less interesting, this first book is a good example of a well written fantasy book that deals with adult themes without being overly dark.

    The greatest book series I have ever read. Each book is absolutely incredible. Regardless of the fact that I have read through the series several times my heart still races whenever I reread any of these books. I got my wife hooked on these books and we're both absolutely in love with them. My wife is pregnant and we've decided if the baby is a girl her name will be Kahlan.

    Loved the series first go around.. Now trying to get the books in digital format but where is the missing books in the series?!? What the heck? Y'all carry the remainder of the series in German and Italian but not in English? What gives? Only reason for one star is because of the missing books in the series!

    I bought this book to fill the need for a good, uncomplicated fantasy read, and that is mostly what I got. The characters could be right out of a Final Fantasy storyline. The wizard, the cleric, the warrior. It's all there. But something felt odd amongst the relatively derivative fantasy elements. It too me a while to get to it, but there are a lot of unnecessary sexual overtones in the book. Most could be ignored. That is until the end of the book. Many reviews talk about the graphic torture scenes towards the end, but is not torture; it's straight up kink. Leather, chains, and mistress type stuff. I tried to skip it, but it was too long. So I gave up and settled for an online plot summery. Decent writing, not bad characters, but I'm just into the same activities Mr. Goodkind seems to enjoy.
